The human brain

I have always been interested in how the human body works. One of the reasons to be interested is that I practice sports, so why we sweat, stretch and how we can work out our muscles are intriguing facts about our bodies. Those, among other incredible facts like gestating and breastfeeding when we have babies. Sleeping, dancing, walking and reading are just some of the many activities that have to do with the brain.

Biology and Education are closely related if we analyse the brain activity. As a teacher, when we study the way human beings learn, we study Psychology but unfortunately we didn’t study Neuroscience. Therefore, as this science has always caught my attention I wanted to learn more about it. A couple of years ago, because of the Masters programme I was studying, I had the chance to read lots of interesting papers about how the brain works when we read as well as how the way we stimulate the brain affects our learning process.

The human brain is a complex organ and as human beings we are supposed to be the only ones to know something about the way the brain works. With that skill, Pierre Paul Broca (1824-1880), a French pioneer doctor was able to draw a map of the brain and consequently, he discovered a small area in the left hemisphere, which controls the production of language. Thus, 100 billion neurons in our brains are responsible for language, communication and many other aspects of our lives.

  1. I think that the brain is the organ more important in the body, because is not replaceable. I admire so much the people that understand this science, because I not good for this area, but I think that is very interest and important.

  2. The human brain is really interesting because we really know very little about it, so it's a comletely mystery even today the way it works and it's real importance for human life

  3. The brain for me is the most interesting organ, because it is very complex and we are far to understand it. The neuroscience will be very important in the near future.

  4. Hi teacher!
I like this topic too! But I know very little things about it. In one time I went to a forum related this theme. It was so cool

  5. Hello :) is interesting the brain, it is very complex, but sometimes i think that it is like the computer screen, it only shows (through the thoughts) what is inside the body.

  6. Hi :) When I thought in study psychology, the principal reason was my interest for learn about neuroscience, obviously with the time the things change, and now I am interested in other lines. But anyway the brain remains very cool.

  7. The human brain is amazing!. I am amazed that with so much technology today we still know. I would like to do research on how emotions are expressed in the brain.

  8. Hi, I really like neuroscience, in fact, I was an assistant in that course. I think it is very interesting to know how the brain works, so we can understand many processes that are taking place in our body and consciousness. Last year, I was in a investigation in the UC, we wanted to know if humor had some influence in the reconsolidation of declarative memory. Unfortunately, we could not finish the experiment, and it is really sad, because, in some way, knowing if humor has influence in memory could bring us to think if education has to change and be made more playful.
If you have some interest in lenguaje, I recommend you to watch this video. It talks about a lenguaje map that we all have, and it explains that we tend to group words by meaning. This video is part of a investigation made by investigators of Berkeley University and it shows that all brains are different because each person gives different meaning to words.

  10. Hi teacher! I found your post really interesting. It make me want to know more about the brain. I also think it's intereseting how you related the muscles work with the brain (most of the people think that brain is only intelectual tasks)

  11. hi teacher!
i am also brain lover, its my favorite organ, i dont know what i would whitout my dear brain jejeje.
now, talking seriously i think the neurosciences is an important discipline, in fact, is my favorite line in psychology. within which a lot of literature has been produced, however we still have a long way to go
